San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo Ambassadors Return to the TCR July 3 and July 4
The San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo Ambassadors fast-paced drill team is returning to the Texas Cowboy Reunion for the twelfth consecutive year to entertain the crowd with their high speed drills! The Ambassador program was created to encourage young women to get involved with the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo. At the onset of the program, the main function of the Ambassadors was to set pivots for the rodeo, but now they present the sponsor flags, lead the annual rodeo parade and perform their drills at each rodeo performance. These cowgirls also represent the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Association at other events throughout the State of Texas, including rodeos in Eldorado and Sonora. The girls not only perform in the arena, but enjoy volunteering throughout the year at SASSRA events and other community events.
Today, the Ambassador program has grown. Each year, we will have up to 12 team members. Team members must be excellent riders and horse-women. This group is required to attend numerous, extensive practices year round to ensure the drills go off without a hitch! The cowgirls are young, ranging in age from 13-18, but they ride their horses fast. That is what makes them stand out among other drill teams!
Performing at the Texas Cowboy Reunion is one of the Ambassadors’ highlights of the year. We thank you all for the invitation to return and the hospitality you provide while we are here celebrating the sport of rodeo every Fourth of July weekend!
The Ambassadors are coached by Misty Weishuhn and under the direction of Sally and Richard Green.
