STAMFORD, Texas — The Texas Cowboy Reunion is proud to announce that legendary western swing musician and entertainer Jody Nix has been selected as the Parade Marshal for the 2026 Texas Cowboy Reunion Grand Parade.
The parade will begin at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, in downtown Stamford and will celebrate this year’s patriotic theme, “Happy 250th Birthday, America.”
Nix is no stranger to the Texas Cowboy Reunion. The 2026 event marks his 39th year performing at the TCR, making him one of the most recognizable and beloved entertainers in the celebration’s history. Through nearly four decades of performances, Nix and his band, The Texas Cowboys, have become a cherished tradition for generations of Texas Cowboy Reunion attendees.
A native of Big Spring, Nix began his musical career at just eight years old, playing drums in his father Hoyle Nix’s band, the West Texas Cowboys. He later mastered the fiddle, developed his signature vocal style, and went on to become one of Texas’ premier ambassadors of traditional country music and western swing. Throughout his remarkable career, he has recorded numerous albums, performed alongside many of country and western music’s greatest artists, and earned recognition from multiple western swing and cowboy music organizations. He was also selected by Bob Wills to appear on the historic 1973 album ‘Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys For the Last Time,’ an honor that helped launch his career to new heights.
Nix and The Texas Cowboys have entertained audiences across Texas and throughout the Southwest for more than six decades. Their accolades include induction into the Western Swing Society Hall of Fame, the Texas Western Swing Hall of Fame, and numerous other honors recognizing Nix’s contributions to preserving and promoting western swing music.
His connection to Stamford runs especially deep. In addition to his long-standing presence at the Texas Cowboy Reunion, Nix still holds the all-time attendance record for a Texas Cowboy Reunion rodeo dance, a testament to his enduring popularity and the loyal following he has built over the years.
As Parade Marshal, Nix will lead the procession through downtown Stamford as thousands gather to celebrate America’s 250th birthday and the western heritage that continues to define the Texas Cowboy Reunion.
The Texas Cowboy Reunion invites residents and visitors alike to join in honoring Jody Nix’s outstanding contributions to western music and his nearly four decades of dedication to the Stamford tradition. Nix will be performing at the TCR Dance at the pavilion on Wednesday, July 1 at 9:30 p.m., then at the RoundUp Hall Thursday through Saturday at 9:30 p.m.
