Western Art Show Capitol of Texas Celebrates 52 Years of Western Heritage & Western Swing
Texas’s longest running western art show has been preserving our western heritage and culture for over 50 years. The Stamford Art Foundation’s annual exhibit showcases original works of art displaying the flavor and romance of our western heritage. Original oil, watercolor, acrylic, pencil, and sculpture are among the intriguing works to be displayed by 32 artists from across the southwest.
All proceeds from the sale of the art benefit the West Texas Rehabilitation Center. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for those they serve, regardless of financial circumstances through physical and occupational therapy, hospice care, speech therapy, hearing, language, pediatric services and more.
Artists participating in the 2025 show include Gary Bailey, Bill Barrick, Lyndy Benson, Gayle Bone, George Boutwell, Susan Brooke, Mary Brooks, Anthony Brown, Kellie Campbell, Mary Cardwell, D. Childress, Jack Chisholm, Joan Frost, David Godfrey, Bonnie Griffin, Mary Haan, Jack Harkins, Becky Hicks, Laurie Ketchum, Melissa Kohout, George Kovach, Jack Moss, Robert Penny, Raul Ruiz, Paul Cameron Smith, Pete Spano, Herman Walker, Gary Ward, Leslie Jo Wheaton, K.W. The week’s events kick off on Tuesday, with the annual Preview Party on July 1st at the TCR dace slab and pavilion. Attendees will have the chance to mingle with the artists, enjoy a steak dinner, and dance to western swing masters Jake Hooker and the Outsiders. Preview Party tickets are $75 and reserved tables of 10 are available under the pavilion for $1,500 or under the tents for $1,000, all purchased in advance. Tickets may be purchased at the Law Offices of James Decker at 127 E. McHarg in Stamford, or by calling Connie Decker at 325-669-7587.
